Our
Counselor-In-Training Program
The Burgess and Hayward Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is the first step in the transition from camper to staff member. This program is for those who are ready to take on new challenges, opportunities and responsibilities at camp.
Participants in the CIT program gain a meaningful leadership experience, develop life-long skills and lasting friendships. Camp is an ideal setting to build important life skills such as communication, problem solving and co-operation in the fun, magical, and creative culture that keeps campers returning summer after summer.
As well as developing important life skills, CITs learn the valuable tools needed to be a camp counselor through interactive, informative, co-ed training sessions. The best part is that CITs immediately get to put those skills into practice while at camp. With the guidance of CIT directors and counselors, CITs assist in leading activities and teaching new skills with cabin groups, interest groups and all-camp activities.
Applicants for the CIT program must be at least 16 or entering the 11th grade by the start-date of the session to which they apply.
